Cathy shared photos that followed a minimalistic style this month. Most were from her travel archives since she’s been focused on other genres lately. Here are the images she shared:

Cathy shared some amazing photos of the Paso Robles Sensorio Light Installations. Oddly, although a colorful exhibition, her black&white photo was one of the favorites. The colorful installations are hard to photograph after dark since tripods are not allowed. Fortunately, her new iPhone 15 Pro takes wonderful low light photos. She still uses her Adobe Lightroom skills to edit the iPhone images to get the best quality.

Cathy joined the outing to Old Town’s Dia de los Muertos celebration Nov 2nd in the evening when the light was fading. It was a crowded event and parking was hard to find close-by. But she was able to get some great portraits the short time she had to shoot. She also shared some train images taken during some recent trips to San Francisco and Breckenridge. Cathy shoots with a Canon Rebel SL-3 APS-C camera and is able to capture some wonderful images from her basic system. Just goes to show it’s the photographer and not the gear that gets great results. Her second camera is her new iPhone 15 Pro Max – she loves the camera upgrade from her older iPhone XR.

Cathy’s been traveling recently so many of the photos she shared were taken during her travels. Plus she has a new iPhone now which has a great camera. She also participated in last month’s moonrise outing but did not share anything new. You can view her moonrise images in her Sept 2024 album. Here are this meeting’s photos:
Cathy enjoys the iPhone photo apps Reflect and BeCasso and shared some of her nicely done creations. She also managed to quickly post-process some Moon-rise photos from our Sept 17th outing.
This group of images Cathy generated using the Reflect App on iPhone. Images are conversions of her original digital photographs edited using Reflect’s tool library and effects.
These AppArt images were processed using BeCasso, an iPhone app that applies painterly-effects to the image.
Cathy did a beach walk-about, people-watching with her camera. La Jolla Shores can be crowded and she used her long lens’ perspective to emphasize the density of people enjoying the sun, sand, and ocean. She also shared a wonderful fireworks photo of Sea World’s short summertime fireworks show. Fireworks photography is always a challenge and she got a great shot. Here are the photos she shared:
Like all of us, Cathy had a wide variety of photos to share this month. Some photos were from a recent trip to Colorado, the San Diego Fair and some were from her photo archive. As we become more proficient at post-processing and as the software improves. Re-processing or recovering older images is becoming a common practice. Cathy shared some older travel images that had promise but may have had technical issues. Using post-processing techniques she’s learned and some of the newest tools. She shared these images, explaining the processing used.

Cathy has been busy submitting photos to the San Diego Fair Photography contest and winning. We’ll have to setup a page of her award winning photos since she does the group proud. This month she shared several architectural photos to fit the theme:

Cathy uses a Canon camera and iPhone for her photography. Post-processing is done in Lightroom and Photoshop. Cathy’s been experimenting with Photoshop 2024’s AI generative fill tool to improve composition. She also used Lightroom’s masking and overall image tools to bring out specific details or remove unwanted elements.
